In the GDR Wegner underwent a comprehensive training as a trainer in socialist-influenced competitive sports always success-oriented. Victory for the socialist state of the GDR was his mission and goal. With the German reunification, the victories of his protege's are combined with his own personal ambition to always be the best, to create something special in his life. He owes the success of more than 100 world champion titles in professional boxing to his mental and psychological as well as to his technical skills acquired in the GDR. Together with his wife Margret, Ulli Wegner can enjoy the media glamour and the prosperity of the West. The Heringsdorfer Heinz Brinkmann, who feels mentally connected with the Pomeranian Wegner, the fight against cancer works in its quiet way counterpoint. This is also the effect of the quotations from films by the director, which tell in a completely different way the events of the time and the sensitivities of the people in these upheavals. In the final rounds, both become friends.
